The Social Media Week in Hamburg (SMWHH) has been part of the world’s largest public conference about social media for 5 years. In 2017 it takes place on 27th of February to 3rd of March, contemporaneous, global and together with New York and Jakarta, themed “Language and the Machine” – “Language meets technology: algorithm and the future of communication”.
The SMW in Hamburg offers over 150 free events for all target groups. It approaches creators and users as well as experts and beginners. Each year, the SMWHH discusses over one week with more than 3.000 participants, how the development in social media and digital technology influences life and work as well as journalism, trade, business, education and culture. Globally more than 70.000 People have already taken part in 20 cities. In 2009 The Social Media Week was founded by Toby Daniels, founder of Crowdcentric Media LLC, in New York.
